Heart-Centered, Pleasure-Positive & Collaborative Psychotherapy
Hello, and welcome! I am a psychotherapist, clinical supervisor & artist based in New York City. I began this work about 8 years ago as I was navigating my own healing journey and while transitioning out of my former career as an artist. My passion for social service is informed by my experiences growing up as a queer person in the south, where religious-based discrimination and limited resources shaped how I came to understand both my position in the world and the ways in which I could use that position to strengthen my support for LGBTQ+ folks and other vulnerable communities.
About Me
I specialize in the treatment of anxiety, depression, PTSD/C-PTSD, and attachment trauma with adolescents and adults who are exploring issues related to gender & sexuality, alt-sex relationships & kink, sexual trauma, HIV/AIDS, religious-based discrimination, obsessive compulsivity, and addiction. I work with adolescents and adults, couples, and multi-partner relationships, and am especially dedicated to working with trans/non-binary adolescents & their families as they navigate the complexities of gender diversity in our increasingly hostile socio-political environment.
*I offer gender-affirming healthcare evaluations and letters at no cost
Specializations
My Approach
In our work together, you can expect a heart-centered, liberatory and pleasure-positive space to both navigate your healing journey and explore the parts of your experience that you wish to address. Together we will focus on cultivating a therapeutic relationship that empowers you to deepen your self-awareness, improve your ability to cope, and boldly face the challenges that prevent you from realizing the life you imagine.
While I have studied multiple modalities, I am especially interested in the transformational power of a blended approach, drawing upon relational and psychodynamic theories, internal family systems, and cognitive behavioral therapy to support my clients’ healing. I also use mindfulness and body-based approaches when appropriate. Additionally, I am in the beginning stages of EMDR training. Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is an extensively-researched method used for the treatment of trauma, PTSD/C-PTSD, depression, anxiety, addiction, OCD, and more.
