About Me

Hi, I’m Jason (he/him). I am a psychotherapist, clinical supervisor & artist based in New York City. I began this work about 8 years ago as I was navigating my own healing journey and while transitioning out of my former career as an artist. My passion for social service is informed by my experiences growing up as a queer person in the south, where religious-based discrimination and limited resources shaped how I came to understand both my position in the world and the ways in which I could use that position to strengthen my support for LGBTQ+ folks and other vulnerable communities.

I hold a Master of Social Work from The Silberman School of Social Work at Hunter College. While in school, I worked in the public school system providing counseling and advocacy for children and adolescents involved in foster care, students struggling with behavioral and emotional difficulties, and families navigating food and financial insecurities as well as various other environmental deprivations. I have worked in nonprofit settings, including some years at The LGBT Center where I provided short-term counseling services to individuals, couples and multi-partner relationships, case management for LGBTQ+ asylum seekers, and co-facilitated the HIV support groups.

While I enjoy agency work, my interests in the deeper healing outcomes associated with longer-term psychotherapy shifted my focus to private practice. In the fall of 2017, I received my LMSW and started working as an associate therapist in private practice, specializing in the treatment of anxiety, depression, and ptsd/c-ptsd for members of the LGBTQ+ community and their families.

After receiving my LCSW in early 2021, I opened my private practice. My offices are located in Union Square.

Specializations

I specialize in the treatment of anxiety, depression, PTSD/C-PTSD, and attachment trauma with folks who are exploring issues related to gender & sexuality, alt-sex relationships & kink, sexual trauma, HIV/AIDS, religious-based discrimination, obsessive compulsivity, and addiction. I work with adolescents and adults, couples, and multi-partner relationships, and am especially dedicated to working with trans/non-binary adolescents & their families as they navigate the complexities of gender diversity in our increasingly hostile socio-political environment.

*I offer gender-affirming healthcare evaluations and letters at no cost
