Courtney Tullock, LMSW

Welcome! I'm Courtney (he/him). I am a psychotherapist, social worker, and advocate based in NYC.

Before becoming a therapist, I spent a decade working in nonprofit social services, supporting runaway and homeless youth throughout NYC through housing programs, case management, advocacy, and eventually psychotherapy. I also participated in City Hall roundtables focused on improving mental health services for New Yorkers. These experiences, along with my own journey growing up queer and trans in the South within religious environments, are what drew me to this work and continue to shape how I show up as a therapist.

I believe therapy works best when it feels collaborative, authentic, and grounded in safety. My approach is relational, psychodynamic, and systems-oriented, meaning I work with clients to explore not only their internal experiences, but also the relationships, communities, and larger systems that have influenced their lives. Together, we'll identify patterns that may no longer be serving you, build on your existing strengths, and work toward meaningful, lasting change.

As a queer trans man, I am passionate about providing gender-affirming care and creating space for the full complexity and nuance of trans and queer experiences. I have worked with individuals from a wide range of racial, cultural, religious, gender, sexual orientation, and ability backgrounds, and I strive to offer an environment where clients feel respected, understood, and empowered to explore all parts of themselves.
